About Rene Crystal

Sometimes I think I was born tightly clutching a camera in my tiny hands.  My Dad was a news photographer for a large newspaper in Newark, NJ from the 50s through the 70s.  I have the best memories of going with him to the Art Department of the Newark Evening News and spending time in the darkroom developing photos.

My eyes grew wide with amazement as images seemed to magically emerge on paper.

The darkroom no longer exists, but the amazement and wonder of images emerging remains with me still.

It's a crazy, crazy world today.   The beauty of nature is free for the taking - take a few moments each day to look around you and soak it in.

All flowers, trees, etc. in my photographs are indeed real.  Each is created from the originals taken from gardens in my neighborhood and from my trips to Provincetown, Cape Cod.

Please enjoy my sometimes different vision of the world around us
